It’s where the red hair comes from, you know.

Been listening to Rhapsody, which is convenient for discovering new and exciting things, which is basically impossible if all you do is listen to the radio, and discovered the Scandinavia section. Few things:

From Finland - Gjallarhorn - Ranarop Call of the Sea Witch. I guess if you’re on a PC I can give you this link, because Rhapsody is only on PCs..

Then, from Norway, Kirsten Braten Berg - From Senegal to Setesdal. She “blends her native Scandinavian influences with a variety of world influences.” Isn’t it interesting how much northern European music is combined with African, and it always sounds good. It would never work with German Oompa Oompa bands, for instance. But Celtic and now Scandinavian goes very well with it.

Coming up, I have Kent (Swedish) - Isola, and Varttina (Nodic, I think) - Vihma. I’ll keep you posted. Kent’s described as “In a world full of angst, though, this album still stands out amongst the dross two years down the line,” which should be very interesting. I’ll have to hide all the sharp objects.
