The “Woah You’re Totally Right” Entry of the Day
Commenter (yes I have them!) Keith in Mtn View (right next to my own home town!) says in response to this entry:
No wonder these anti-gun types are so anti-gun, they treat them like toys and act like having one around makes them go psycho - which they believe is the case for everyone else, since everybody is secretly really just like them… They really are nuts.
That is SO true! I guess it’s the whole “It takes one to know one” thing, that and the old wisdom that you hate most in others what you’re most guilty of yourself. I think that can be applied to a lot of crackpot liberal “solutions.”

Bruce, not just “near,” we probably hear your train in the morning (?)- I’m sure my wife does anyhow! ;-) Ninme when you say, “takes-one-to-know-one” and add the affinity of identification pathology: “that (which) you hate most in others (is) what you’re most guilty of yourself.” that really brings it home. The whole “liberal crackpot-solution” thing keeps me coming back to the Cornell study of incompetents; people who can’t self-assess and delusionally, place themselves in the upper percentile when really, performancewise they’re in the lowest 25th. Heh, “self-esteem” is actually a reflection of self-protective ego-coating. It explains to me how they can believe that proven failures can somehow magically morph into successes, simply because they think that they are “Good” ideas. And it explains to me how they can conceive of themselves as being morally suprior (and also, especially, that others are less-so), and that they are “Great Humanitarians” simply because they hold a certain principle in mind. Mind over matter, eh?
