Oh My Goodness It’s a Slow News Day
I swear half my blogs still have talk of the new Star Wars entries today, and it’s been a week. And since this is still a filibuster-free zone, I’m a little at a loss.
The only thing worth commenting on is this, but I’m not exactly qualified to comment on military matters, so I usually avoid them.
BBC - Huge US raid on western Iraq town
An Associated Press report says helicopters dropped US marines near palm groves to block off one side of the town, while other troops established checkpoints and moved into the centre of the city on foot and in armoured vehicles.
“Right now there’s a larger threat than should be in Haditha and we’re here to tell them that they’re not welcome,” battalion commander Lt Col Lionel Urquhart told the news agency.
To compensate for a lack of any real information, the Beeb has satisfied its need for word length by getting whinging quotes from affronted locals. You know, the usual “The Americans came into my house without knocking and asked me in loud tones if I knew any terrorists!”
And Abu-baby has still not apparently succumbed to his injuries, nor the gangrene, insect wound-infestation, swine fever, or black-falling-off-butt syndrome we’ve been hoping for. So that story is on the back burner.
Although this is exciting news: Bubblehead’s first born has graduated from high school, and to compound the gaiety of this happy occasion, they sang songs with clear religious overtones!
Ah, there’s nothing quite like seeing your first child leave home and at the same time tweaking the nose of the ACLU. At least, I conjecture, having no firsthand experience myself.
