We’re Much Better at Keeping Out of Politics Now
Apparently Anglicanism is dying, and RC2’s already sharpening the steak knives for the fatted calf dinner. Personally, I thought they had the Archdruid to act as a sort non-Roman pope, and if not, they could certainly look to the queen, couldn’t they? If they’re that desperate? I have nothing to gain from them switching back, after all. I’m too old for Wills. (Although isn’t Camilla a year older than Chuck?)

Evensong’s wonderful. In fact the Anglican musical tradition’s really well worth having, together with some truly brilliant churches.
“The people who walked in darkness have taken a bit of a nasty tumble.”

Yes, and they can keep it if they Pope. There’s a parish in San Antonio, TX (of all places) where the pastor and entire congregation crossed the Tiber, and they get to maintain their “Anglican use” liturgy, smells & bells, etc.

Is that so. What do they call themselves? Anglican Rite Catholics? We could set them up with their Evensong next to the Chanting Romans and the Dirging Easterners.

I don’t think they’re their own rite yet, but there has been discussion of creating an Anglican Rite. I think the Catholic Church already has some 26 rites or something like that, of which “Roman” is just one –what’s one more? Heck, I say we shoot for a round 50.

Oh that would be wonderful! The best free music in Edinburgh happens every day at Evensong in the Anglican Cathedral here. Utterly wonderful. Whereas our local Catholics have to sing the ghastly “How great Thou art (and Thou knowest Thou should be glad)”. Horrible. 50? Rite on!
