My Deep Thinkers
In my Viva la Visa comments:
Ultimately, multiculturalism attacks the principle of the equality of persons, because what it means is: some rules for you, different ones for me.
- RC2Multi-culturalism attacks the equality of persons, and in doing so creates the incentive for persons to become active in trying to capture control of a distributive state. It’s a set-up for conflict.
- Brett McS
I was daydreaming the other day about myself in some sort of highly cultural setting, cocktails were being served and the conversation was very elevated and everyone was admiring my wit, and then I panicked and realized I’d need to bring my commenters with me everywhere I go.

This is a disadvantage? Speaking as a commenter, I could easily get used to hichly cultural settings, cocktails, elevated conversation and admirable wit.
But I have to make do with just the latter two by reading this blog.

Anyone see “Take the Money and Run”, (a Woody Allen film from the era when he used to try to make people laugh)? It’s got a sequence where Allen has to go everywhere with his colleagues on the chain gang, shuffling around in leg irons and looking sheepish. I sort of picture the ninmates doing much the same, shuffling after ninme and talking quietly among themselves while clutching highballs at the same time.

Good heavens no! We all enter a room, heads high, calling for cocktails. If anyone approaches us with small talk of a historical nature, Red is ready with an answer. If the subject is economics, Brett steps in, without skipping a beat. As the crowd around us grows larger, and standers-by eagerly top off our glasses and bring us canapés, RC2 says something witty in Italian about a politician she knows and I finish it off with a bit of carefully crafted sarcasm and the room is ours!

Ah, with Half making them ponder the deeper verities all the while! And cats and cars!

You wouldn’t have a photograph of it, would you, Half?

I’ll post it for you.
