That sounds like something I’d do. I want chickens for the eggs. But then I never eat chicken anymore anyway, so it wouldn’t be much of a problem.

This summer camp I went to, there was this bloody-minded turkey that used to chase us around the yard one year, and god I couldn’t wait to eat that thing. I think I left the day before we did, though. The thing was hideous because the chickens picked most of its feathers off. Stupid bird.

I’d also like geese but they fly, and I wouldn’t really know what to do with them (other than keep them at the bugs trying to get at my strawberries, a trick I read about in the Telegraph just now) but that’s a bit of overkill. Of course, if I were that rich, I could indulge my fantasy of peacocks and swans, but, well, I’m not that optimistic anymore.

Todays Churchill thingy: He named all his chickens at Chartwell and refused to eat poultry since it could be one of his “friends”.

Oh lord at first I thought it was published in 1935, 2nd printing, and I was going to say, “Uh, rather misses the juicy bits, no?” But okay. I am going to utter the word “book” now, because occasionally I trawl my comments for book recommendations when I’m on my way to the library.

And I can get from Peter how he hooked up his bluetooth so that when he walked up to his computer iTunes would start, when the phone would ring iTunes would pause, and a little thing would pop up saying who was calling, and when he hung up the phone iTunes would resume playing again, and pause if he walked away from the computer. Then you’ll be the coolest kid on the block.

Huzzah huzzah huzzah! Break out a bottle of wine! Slice some peaches into a salad! Whip together some Garibaldi biscuits with red currants served beside a custard tart! Sure that's my dinner anyway but this is (another) reason to celebrate!

My college roommate who's since moved to New York bought a Mac too yesterday or the day before. The new laptop. We should be getting paid for this.
