A birthday walkabout:
SMH - PM greeted by fans on his birthday
Prime Minister John Howard began his 67th birthday in Melbourne with a kiss on the cheek and a rock star welcome from adoring teenagers on his regular morning walk.
And as he powered through the three-kilometre walk under grey skies beside Melbourne’s murky brown Yarra River this morning, he was greeted with affection by other early-morning walkers.
Read the whole thing.
Curtsies go to Brett McS for the link. When I got back from Vegas, where I was in the company almost exclusively of nearly a dozen Australians, I did a little pouring out about being surrounded by nice people, but total lefties, and me trying to keep the conversation from turning to something serious to prevent myself a) from boiling with rage and thus ruining my festive mood or b) outing myself as a Nazi Fascist Jackbooted Baby Killer and instantly losing my new friends. He’s been very supportive.

Happy Birthday to Peter, too!

Aussie lefties aren’t real lefties, the Lucky Country doesn’t sustain the necessary degree of resentment. It’s Peter’s birthday? Happy birthday!

I have it on good authority that he has the same birthday as our Primer Minister.
Considering that one of the most prominent lefty blogs in Australia is The Road to Surfdom, you could be on to something, Red.

Happy Birthday Peter! Can you enable strikeout?

Road to Surfdom? Really? Tee-hee-hee!!!!

I imagine he lives in Surfer’s Paradise. Hard to keep up the subversion of the dominant paradigm with the right level of snarly attitude when you live in a place called Surfer’s Paradise.
If he doesn’t live in Surfer’s Paradise, I’ll still imagine he does.
Well it’s interesting that you say that Brett because I heard the same thing too!

Thanks all!
Half: I’ll get strikeout working eventually, I promise.

Sorry, I’d only turned on strike. Now it should all work. FYI, apparently strike and s have been deprecated in favor of del. Weird.

Hey look they work now. Now we can go through all of your old comments, Half, and they’ll make sense!
