That's the point, I can never tell. If I'd been fitted with a quality control programme I'd have written more.

Then again, if it's a cliff fall at the edge of the ocean, there's a lot to be said for being a chum of Flipper the dolphin.

Perhaps that could be the next TV series: "Monty the Mongoose"? One would pitch it as Skippy meets the deadly browns. And takes direct action, non of this hopping back and forth and looking winsome nonsense.

Of course a brace of Sawed-off Dobies strapped to your leg can handle "The Deadly Brown Snake" as well as assorted falling and crushing incidents.

If you're going to get trapped under a tractor or fall into a well, or maybe break an ankle in a cliff fall, you don't want a 'Roo you want a Lassie Dawg.

Screw the mongoose, I'm getting a kangaroo. You're only going to get killed by creepy crawlies in Australia, but you can get trapped under a tractor anywhere.

Well, there is another of these stories about a real life, tame, Bush Kangaroo (not a pet) from a couple of years ago. Also in Queensland. The kangaroo raised the alarm to the family she was friends with, when the farmer-husband was trapped under his tractor after it overturned. Then she hopped back to the farmer and stayed with him until the rescuers came. A real-life Skippy episode.

I'd always assumed that Kangaroos were almost completely stupid. Skippy was certainly no Inspector Rex. So I was very surprised when I saw this news item.
