I was in Plzen (Czech Republic) the day that the Aussie (Jennifer Hawkins - Newcastle girl!) won the Miss Universe title. One of the engineers in the railway testing facility came up to me the next morning, solemnly shook my hand and offered the most sincere congratulations. Took me a bit before I realized what he was on about. They’re serious about beautiful girls.

Miss Scotland in the papers today says that Miss Czech is too “artificial”. Must be a sore loser.
