Yeah, they are. Odd really, they went through a patch when their scrum was seriously underpowered up front - England famously defended a scrum with only six men at Eden Park not all that long ago - but the current lot seem massive. And their backs just keep getting bigger and bigger.
Hehehe no no it didn’t, Half. Although it does come with free wool carpets. (No but I do have a WOOLS OF NEW ZEALAND The Standard of Excellence in Wool Carpets pamphlet right here. New Zealand is taking over my condo!)
I wanted a side-by-side but to have a counter-depth side-by-side it would have been about eight feed wide and would have to have been a living room feature. To have the freezer on the bottom though rather than the top is necessary, since I’m sick to death of stooping over for the milk, but having the ice trays I never use right at eye height.
It is stainless steel, with a coating for cleaning it easily, the freezer is all drawers, but not wire drawers so when you open it all the cold around the food doesn’t fall out onto the kitchen floor like in some fridges I could name. The bottom freezer drawer has a little tray hidden in the top of it that fits an ice cube tray, which is wonderful, and if you dig around here there’s some little pictures.
And it’s so cheap! And it’s gorgeous! You can get it in white (but why would you) and there’s a square door but the rounded one is much nicer. The wall ovens and cook tops they make are the most gorgeous things I’ve ever seen but I can’t afford those. But the dials, the little dials! Augh!
Ah, so Fischer-Paykel is making ‘Fridges now too? Our neighbor has one of their double-decker dishwahers. We have a counter-depth side-by-side that’s not too huge, it fits in the condo’s pre-built ‘fridge-alcove so it can’t be super gargantuan. We’re looking at a do-over, really an upgrade since we can’t knock down any walls or do anything physical - counter surfaces/cabinets…
Those induction cooktops are pretty kewl, the heat only goes to heat the pot - but I want one with digital controls and no knobs to wipe around.
Yeah, if I could get a cooktop separate from the oven, I totally would. But then I’d have the money to do so which would mean getting exactly what I really want which would mean taking it with me wherever I go in life, and people around here don’t seem too fond of anything detrimental to resale value.
I saw an induction one over the weekend with a wok ring. It was pretty damned cool. The thing is though I’d have to ditch all my cheap ‘n sleazy pans, since they’re all stainless steel. Sure it would be nice to have a complete set of Le Creuset, but who wants to wash those two-ton tinas every night?
We’re having a hard time finding a range and will probably have to go with a separate cook-top and oven - but it can’t be a wall-oven because we don’t have the wall-space, so it has to go below the cooktop anyhow. Arrgh! Our cookware is heavy Kitchenaid stainless-ply stuff - I don’t even know if that works with induction…I wash it all the time, or at least the dishwasher does. ;-)
Well, for the induction to work, a magnet has to stick to it… I wonder how far it reaches. At the appliance store they demonstrated with a dishtowel folded several times under a pot of water which they boiled, without, obviously, the dishtowel lighting on fire. So it worked about an inch away. So if you have pots hanging above your range…
Ranges suck. They’re all so ugly. Except the pretty ones which are all so expensive. This weekend is Find an Oven Extravaganza.
We have a pretty expensive but obsolete (no longer made) Thermador range at the moment, the only thing above it is the stainless-steel hood. It’s our counter-tops that are really ugly. Hmmm…our Kitchen-Aid stainless pots fail the magnet test - ok, forget the induction!

Was having the freezer on the bottom rather than the top a criterion? (I’m in the fridge market myself). Is it stainless steel?

After yesterday’s rugby match NZ-ers are a bit of a sore subject round here.

Yeh, well, most of the All Black forwards are built like a fridge.

So they’ll come full circle and become All Backs again.

Nice one, Brett!

Pretty fair photo. Freezers belong on the bottom. Physics and such. Did it come with the optional lamb cooler?
November 6th, 2006 at 9:05 am
Lamb cooler? Is that some sort of NZ-er drink?

Is that Edam cheese you’ve got on the door? Surely not? Though the green stuff looks very nice.
Mrs Red and ninme could have a high old time discussiing kitchen appliances, I reckon.

Whatever it is, it looks delicious. What you see represented there: imported water, dairy, wine, and fresh greens. Mmmmm.
Poor Peter’s been having a major crisis over the oven, though. Though he may have come to terms with one of them.

Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Fine. I’ll cook (wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee) and you can do the washing up. Just watch your fingers. And get some athletic tape for your wrists.

Yeah see? It’s not practical.
I like tile countertops. But we’re getting an oak one from Ikea. Assuming all goes well, that is.
