I can’t find anything interesting going on. But I thought this first one might make some of you feel better (if you’re mean-spirited, like me):

Blix on song

Dr Hans Blix has a more serious day job than most. The former UN weapons inspector infuriated Britain and America before the Iraq invasion by challenging the “dodgy” dossier claiming that Saddam had WMD. Yesterday, Blix launched a new attack on Tony Blair over his decision to replace Trident.

In his spare time, however, there is nothing Blix likes more than to get a few friends over and wheel out the karaoke machine.

“Hans is passionate about karaoke,” says my Foreign Office source. “Whenever he has dinner parties, he likes to end up singing karaoke and getting people to dance about. His favourite tune is Donna Summer’s Hot Stuff.”

Then this is fun:

Sharp cookie

When Benedict XVI visits Turkey this week, he’ll need all his wits about him to negotiate the angry protests that will mark his arrival — so it’s a good job his IQ is well over 150.

This figure was revealed by Fr Benedict Groeschel, a priest and pyschologist who has met the Pope on over a dozen occasions.

“The Pope, by my judgment, has an IQ of over 150, which officially makes him a genius,” he told an audience at Holy Ghost Church, Balham recently. “From my experience, he’s one of the cleverest men around — and not at all like a rottweiler. Besides, he comes from west Bavaria, where all they do is eat cookies and drink Mosel wine.”

I like Bavaria.
