Hey Venezuela!
VCrisis - Venezuela: hundreds of thousands march to support Rosales
That’s a lot of people (click for picture). If it weren’t for my joint compounding — and now priming! — I’d have linked to this, this morning (and then I could have been ahead of the story! Augh!):
Wheat & Weeds - Fighting Words
The Many Screeching Monkeys, ever eager to discover civil wars, might usefully keep their eyes on Central and South America.
• Last week I spoke with two Venezuelan friends about the rumor that people will take to the streets and stay there in protest if Chavez takes the upcoming election. My friends are 60-ish, well-off –not prone to civil uprising, in other words. The gentleman told me,
I don’t know anyone who supports Chavez and we are not going to let him steal another election. I’m old and there’s nothing left for me but to defend the country for the sake of the younger generation.

Hah. The road blocks were “road work”. That’s hilarious. Or would be if the clown weren’t actually such a bastard.

He’s one of these Evil Clowns. More common than you would think. Always turning up in movies.
Have your Mexicans settled down yet? I hear that the Loser of the recent election recently inaugurated himself as President in Oaxaca. Showing the way for the Dems in 08?

Yeah well it got absolutely no mileage here (except for a very funny post of RC2’s) so unless it’s one of those sinister festering things, I think things are pretty much settled. Of course, with our press anything could be happening, but I imagine if there was anything really serious one or two of the blogs would mention it.
I’ll feel better when the man’s inaugurated.
