It’s the Because-I’m-Paranoid-About-Comcast Emergency Post and Open Thread One
The internet’s supposed to be turned on here on Thursday. In the meantime we’re “borrowing” the internet from someone nice enough not to change the defaults on their wireless router, which isn’t exactly lightening fast at the best of times. In case everything goes pear shaped, here’s at least one post a day. Possible topics for discussion: the State of the Union, Australian desserts, poetry, song lyrics.
Pre-post update (predate?):
I’m letting this post in twenty minutes (it’s 2.40 now) because it took all morning to get exactly one page to load, check my email exactly once, and get exactly one news story to open. I’m trying someone else’s network now, but it’s still pretty dire.

Are you hunting or gathering?

Eh… I’m baking. Which one is that?

I think that would be gathering.

Unless it’s ship’s biscuit with three months’ worth of weevils, which would make it hunting.

Ew. No, croissant rolls. But they took 24 hours to make. Surely there’s a bit of hunting in that? Took two trips to the store as well…

Indeed then, you’re an advanced civil unit. Is there excess labour enough for art or embalming in your household?
