I have actually served in combat with women.

They are treated different, and expected to be treated differently in many ways.

I serve with them because I am told to.
And that is just a fact. Would it be my preference? No, not in all cases. I have never matched up the morality of telling a 100# woman to take down a building full of 180# men. Would I be OK with having them spin-up and align TLAM. Sure.

I got my first comment from Skippy-san the other day. I felt like I'd had some sort of break through as a representative of the opposite sex.

But the problem is women on the front line. The angle is the route by which we arrive there. Either through the women or the men's attitudes.

"Stuttering is well known to be a sign of sexual frustration. "
heh. Thanks Nin. It would appear that I am 33% more frustrated than Thersites.

:-)

"Okay, different angle, but same problem, no? "
Not quite.

"Either we stop highly valuing women, which, as one, is something I would rather miss,"
so would I. Society would be immeasurably worse for such a change.

" or else there’s a problem having them there."

Absolutely correct.

But the problem is not the failing of the women themselves: It is the failing that their presence engenders in the men around them. That's were I differ from the good Dr Thersites.
