Peter Recommends CCXII

Peter spent the weekend trying to intellectually justify an iPhone, so in order to help I through in the travel opportunities, unfettered by laptops and peripherals, then realized I knew when the European release is (like we ever go there anyway) but I hadn’t heard anything about Canada, . Peter said he didn’t think there was a release date there, and he’d heard something about their screwed up cell phone networks, which I didn’t get since our phones work on their networks when you cross the border, so they can’t be all that different. Then he found this:

Thomas Purves - Canada Worse than 3rd World Countries when it comes to Mobile Data Access

Including the chart “The Travesty of Canadian Mobile Data Rates”. Writes Peter:

“There’s a rumor that the iPhone won’t come to Canada any time soon because the data rates up north are atrocious.

“Who knew.”

Peter should know by now not to buy the first release of anything.

Nah. He’s spent hours with one of his senior coworker’s. He’s in love.

Apparently someone’s invented perpetual energy. Now I’ll never get my horse.

Steorn - Orbo

Our Claim

Orbo produces free, clean and constant energy - that is our claim. By free we mean that the energy produced is done so without recourse to external source. By clean we mean that during operation the technology produces no emissions. By constant we mean that with the exception of mechanical failure the technology will continue to operate indefinitely.

The sum of these claims for our Orbo technology is a violation of the principle of conservation of energy, perhaps the most fundamental of scientific principles. The principle of the conservation of energy states that energy can neither be created or destroyed, it can only change form.

Because of the revolutionary nature of our claim, not only to the world of science but to the world in general, Steorn issued a challenge to the scientific community in August 2006 to test our technology and report their findings. The process of validation that has resulted from this challenge is currently underway, with results expected by the end of 2007.

Technical Specifications

Orbo is based upon the principle of time variant magneto-mechanical interactions. The core output from our Orbo technology is mechanical. This mechanical energy can be converted into electrical energy using standard generator technology either by integrating such technology directly with Orbo or by connecting the mechanical output from Orbo to the generation technology. The efficiency of such mechanical/electrical conversions is highly dependent on the components used and is also a function of size.

Orbo technology is subject to continuous development. This development is focused on improving the manufacturability of the technology, production costs and power density. Orbo was initially developed as using stop-start mechanisms (with a power density of 0.5 Watts per cm3), Steorn is currently finalizing the development of constant motion systems and a significant improvement in power density is anticipated.

There’s a demonstration out at Aldgate East, but it’s closed today. Apparently the heat from the cameras screwed something up.

Maybe they’ll use it to make the world’s most awesome train system in this country. Although I doubt it.

“Lisa! In this house, we obey the laws of thermodynamics!”

    Really, there’s a Simpson’s quote for everything.

This could be big, really, really big. I have $4K buried in the backyard, it’s time to get the shovel out.

  3. Brett_McS Says:

A solid investment. It’s got gears, and wheels within wheels. Toot! Toot!

  4. ninme Says:

You’re right! On all counts! There IS a Simspsons quote for everything, it IS time to get the shovels out, and wheels within wheels?! Solid.

No but seriously (actually I already was), …uh….. yeah?

This is the multi-media, net-savvy, internet-age equivalent of those postage stamp sized print-only ads that you used to find in the back section of Popular Mechanics. Probably cost about the same, too.

Most of the PM ones seemed to be by genuine cranks, though. These guys look they’re in it for the money.

  6. HalfEmpty Says:

I likes geninue cranks, SMALL PRINT IS US EVERYWHERE, LISTEN AND HEAR!

Dog look in wonder Cats flee GET OFF THE YARD YA DAMN KIDZ Certain people undersand and nod THEY’RE THE ONES WITH THE DAMN ALL NIGHT HELICOPTERS!
