Absolutely the Funniest Item of the Day CXXXIX
Hollywood Reporter - Focus won’t sweat NC-17 for ‘Lust’; Schamus won’t ‘change a frame’
I won’t quote any of it, but paragraphs 3, 4, and 5 especially are just hilarious. But don’t worry, it’s all very delicately put forward.

Cows With Guns
Update:
I have to help drive (read: sit in the passenger seat and not drive) two pieces of furniture to Walla Walla today. So, uh, be back tomorrow. Consider this your open thread. Discuss, argue, and prognosticate at will.
91° my Aunt Fanny. It was 98° out there. As we sat in the sun. Changing out flat tire.

August 14th, 2007 at 10:15 pmWalla Walla should be a twin city to Wagga Wagga. Look about the same size.

August 15th, 2007 at 3:24 amTough luck with the tyre. At least on a Mini they’re a manageable size.

August 15th, 2007 at 6:10 amYou may be thinking of the old Mini, Red. 10″ wheels wasn’t it? The new ones have 17s, or even 18s.

August 15th, 2007 at 7:02 amOh really? Didn’t know that. Tough on Peter, that. I had an old mini with a sunroof. One got the sensation of speed without even approaching the speed limit.

August 15th, 2007 at 9:14 amI love seeing old minis, teetering down the highway at alarming speeds on those ridiculous little bicycle wheels. Adorable! No but ours is made by BMW. Zee Germans would never countenance such a measly tire.
At any rate Peter was at his conference yesterday. As I explained just now in the post above, the reason dad had to drive 9 hours to Walla Walla and back after driving 12 hours from Canmore to Seattle and before driving 12 hours from Seattle to home, is because we had no way to move the two pieces of furniture that needed moving without spending the price of the couch we bought again renting a van.
And yes, cows do inject humour into any situation. Cow Tse-Tongue!

A classic. Lord I love that so much, more interweb evidence that I wasn’t alone.
And it’s got a good marching tempo.

Man I can’t believe they did that. I think the Kennedys are going to send goons after them.

Curtsy: Rueful Red, with a special thought towards Brett McS.
From this blog:
The Recusant Cricket Club is a safe haven from an increasingly ugly world: a world actively rooting out all that holds it together, a world plagued by secularism, liberalism and association football.
The Club is for those who reject what Leo XIII called “that widespread and powerful organisation, who, usurping the name of liberty, style themselves liberals.”
This is a forum for people who find themselves shouting at the TV, people who cannot listen to Radio 4 without running down pedestrians. This is a forum for people who believe in having more children than surnames. This is a place for people who believe that how it has always been done and how it ought to be done are usually the same thing.
This is a place for the modern recusant to be heard.
Views and articles on all subjects are always welcome.
With a picture of the pope playing cricket. Red tells me it seems to be a Conservative Catholic Cricket Club.

August 4th, 2007 at 12:43 amAlthough not quite a Yorkshireman, David Lloyd recounts (near the end) a bit more than one wants to know about this type of incident. Up against Thommo, whom, he had early boasted “he could play with his [appendage]” (Here it gets a bit difficult to explain without sounding weird to non-cricket people).

It’s not quite true any more.
The Graun readers are currently running it (all the BBC, most of the civil service etc).

Yes, these were made during the reign of Maggie T.

The Guardian readers grew up and the Times readers got lazy. The Telegraph readers? ‘Bout the same.
