BBC - French mime artist Marceau dies
The French mime artist Marcel Marceau has died at the age of 84, his family has announced.
The performer was known around the world for his portrayal of a white-faced clown with battered hat.
Born in Strasbourg in 1923, Marceau studied under mime master Etienne Decroux in Paris.
His daughter Camille said he died on Saturday evening, adding that details of the burial at Paris’s Pere Lachaise cemetery would be given out later.

Well, look, a lot of art has inspired a lot of shitty derivatives, and of all the performance art in the world, one that actually demonstrates a very real ability of control over the minutest movement of one’s body is something that’s very fun to watch.
Anyway kids like mimes. How could you be mad at someone who makes kids happy at malls? Kids and performance artists doing their installation of “The Return of the Chocolate-smeared Woman”? Don’t mix so much.

Larson’s great. I like the one showing a 747 front-on, night-time, pilots chatting casually. They haven’t noticed they’ve got Santa and the reideer splattered all over the nose of the aircraft. Mimers in Rome take it very seriously. Then they go to a park just off the main drag and drink beer. At normal speed.
