Grandma
Grandma died today.
I wrote up an obituary for her. Some highlights: She was born December 30, 1916 in Hoquiam, WA. She met my grandfather when they were in high school, and they got married April 20, 1940, and moved to California the following year. She moved into the house, which she designed herself, in 1948, and raised her three surviving children in it. She died in the Yellow Bedroom (where my great-grandmother died) in the same house she’s lived in for 60 years. She’s survived by my grandpa, three kids, eight grandkids, and one great-granddaughter.

Now I’m thinking about the only GrandMa I remember, my maternal. The brains of the outfit, the enforcer and bank, able to do a credit check and compound interest calculation while looking you in the eye. Collector of pocket-knifes, pecans, camelias and odd grandchildrens. She once beat me real bad for wondering around the back of the place with a fiery broom only to let me go scot free 10 years later when I accidently ignited an E-3/5 rocket motor in the back porch.
I miss her still.
Her memory will be a blessing.

I’ll say a prayer for her, and for your family nin. Not an unfulfilled life, by your account.
