Today’s Activity, Playing With Nooses
Wow, my dad would have flipped the frick out.
What utter, utter, dangerous morons.
Fox News - Grambling State University Investigates Pictures of Noose Lesson

(Btw, this is the first time i’ve tried to upload a picture for use in an entry in Movable Type 4.01, and it’s not a pleasurable experience. If you find this after googling for information abotu Movable Type 4.01, do, do, run away now. Don’t upgrade. Please, spare yourself.)
So maybe this weekend that little girl will play “racism” with her little brother and string him up to a tree. Kids like to play! Class-action lawsuit against rope manufacturers?

Hi, I work with the MT team and am sorry to hear you had problems with the upgrade — is there anything specific we could help with?

Yes.
You can fix the spam filters finally (I’ve “spammed” (because now you “spam” spam rather than “junk” it) the same exact comment about a hundred times now and it keeps coming back, exactly the same name used, exactly the same text, including all the exact same characters in the exact same order).
You can fix it so you can tab straight from “Title” to the body of the text, rather than hitting tab-tab-tab-tab-tab-tab-tab a billion times then giving up and just clicking in the box, and then having to go through all the same stuff to get to the next field, which should then be followed by…
The categories used to be a drop down menu you could tab into and arrow through. Now you tab right past them and forget to go back and, using your mouse, manually choose one. It’s retarded.
The whole thing is hideous.
There’s no place where you can look at recent posts, recent comments, and recent trackbacks, all at the same time. There used to be. It wasn’t replaced with anything. It was just killed. Now you have to navigate through those retarded menus at the top to individually check each one.
The retarded menus that pop up. They’re retarded. There shouldn’t be little menus that you have to make pop up, they should be part of the navigation. If someone at MT was really that wedding to the damned things, someone should have had the brains to make sure they disappear again when you’re not rolling over them. As it is they get stuck and that drives me absolutely insane.
What the hell does “reply” mean in the comments manager? It’s my freaking blog. I don’t need to “reply” to a comment, I can leave my own, edit it, or email the person if it needs a “reply”. The little “reply” thing that hovers around whenever you move your mouse in that page drives me up the wall. It’s useless, unnecessary, distracting, and creating it is probably what kept the developers from
Realizing the widgets thing is idiotic. It’s a blog, not an operating system. If people wanted widgets that badly then fine, let them have it. But making it the home view is idiotic and since I have absolutely zero purpose for any of them my home page is “your dashboard is empty!” rather than something useful like the last five comments which, incidentally, are all spam, since the spam filter is, as has already been covered, retarded.
Speed it up. It’s slow as hell. I don’t know why, maybe because of the preponderance of widgets and menus and other unnecessary things weighing down, all I know is that it’s slow as hell and takes forever to do anything anymore.
It took Peter (a web designer, developer, and UI designer) most of Saturday afternoon and into the evening to do the update. If I didn’t have him to do it for me, how on earth would I have been able to have done it? I wouldn’t have, and I would have had to use the old version (which, as soon as I’m back from Canada next week, I still might do) until it got so old it broke and then I would have abandoned MT.
The only reason I did this stupid update to begin with is because of the iPhone module. Which is: title, entry, category, tags, save. That is how you manage a blog. If I could trick Safari into thinking it was an iPhone, I would. The only thing wrong with the iPhone, in fact, is that you can’t hold down shift to select the dozens of spam you need to spam (not junk).
And did I mention how shitty the spam filters are? Identical comments, identical names, reported as spam, banned, everything, and they. keep. showing. up.
Oh, and now: I’m trusted, I’m the blog owner, and my comment just got held for approval by… the blog owner. It’s completely idiotic.
