BBC - Pitt leaves State of Play movie

Actor Brad Pitt has pulled out of political thriller State of Play because of script concerns, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Universal confirmed the actor had left but it remained “committed to this project”, the trade paper reported.

Pitt was due to appear alongside Dame Helen Mirren and Ed Norton as an investigative journalist in the movie, based on a BBC drama series.

The script cannot be worked on because of the writers’ strike.

Maybe it’s just the writer’s strike. Maybe the movie would have been fantastic. But the TV show already was fantastic so why redo it?

Writer strike causing problems? Why doesn’t NBC just buy the rights to rebroadcast the original John Simm, Bill Nighy, Kelly Macdonald one? They’re not exactly no-name actors. Call the advertisers, Ma, cuz we got original (sort of) content with big-name stars!

I thought TV execs liked profit…? (And don’t even get me started on the violence done to Blackpool.)
