Landfills are greatly underrated. A less than piddling amount of space to handle an obvious need. Do I want to live across the street from one? No, would I if you paid me? Yes. Course I want picking rights with the $.

So, I can only get Peter to recycle half-heartedly since that’s how they do it in Delaware “I saw it on TV!” he says. And I think I saw something like that too, but, well, it’s not so hard keeping the bottles from everything else. Although I wonder why Los Altos would do it differently from Sunnyvale?

That conveyor belt’s how Sunnyvale does it - I just throw it in a dumpster, screw ‘em - but it’s not about ease and convenience, there must be pain, penance, penury and drudgery to appease the Green-fanged Enviro-Idol. A friend in Massachusetts is forced by local law to separate all that crap, glass-paper-plastic-lawn clippings — and then the Town carts it off in little trucks to a site where they combine the whole lot into one big load , and then haul it to a State facility where they get more money for it as bulk, gross, weight… Ha!! Little people marching in circles at the spear-points of other little, “green” people.
