I was only focused on the Magisterium not being in Rome before. But Geneva –seat of Calvinism? Maybe Pullman is secretly a Catholic trying to undermine the Reformation. Or his Presbyterian parents misused him.

The latter day Star Wars had robots with Dust Buster heads. Perhaps that's why they were so ineffectual.

So you know how the latter day Star Wars installments are full of people in funny costumes wandering around funny sets droning on and on about mitichlorians? It’s a lot like that, but “dust”. It’s trying to be all sciencey, but it’s inventing science, so it has to stop and explain the science, but there’s still a mystery about the science, so as she discovers things there’s more droning on about dust. That’s what it’s called, see. “Dust”.

Never fear, mother dear! Allow me to answer all the we’an’s queries! Including, but not limited to: “Auntie ninme, we see that the author of this perfectly entertaining book is no fan of the church, and it’s hardly the first nor the last time we’ve run across perfectly entertaining works by other non-religious authors who, for their own reasons, aren’t fans of Catholics. So why is the press making such a big deal about it?” “Ah, children, sit on my knee and let auntie ninme tell you a story about the Lazy Reporters and the Adventure of the Easy Story Taking Easy Shots at Easy Marks.”

Actually, basically any question can be answered with “because journalists are idiots” or “because the author is being silly.”

I think, unless something drastic happens, I’m going to keep the updates in this post.

Thank you. The Vice-Principal of the kids’ school and I were just lamenting our fate –probably having to read them to be able to answer questions. Bah. I hate compulsory reading.
