Tosh Volume 2: Sort of Liveblogged
I don’t really feel like it (never did mention, Saturday afternoon Peter said the movie looked like it was edited by a Drexel sophomore) but I have nothing else to do so I’m starting The Subtle Knife. I’ll be updating this post with my comments, since turning it into a community-enriching effort here at ninme will help motivate me. But I’m starting it late in the evening so it probably won’t be off to the start I had last time.
And I must say, we’re off to an interesting start. Or at least an unexpected one, which in this case amounts to the same thing. More sympathy for the characters, too.
So, this book is taking place in the normal world, not one just a little bit different from this one, and it’s astonishing the difference it makes to the book. He’s just gotten to a place where he has to start establishing the scene, and the pacing just dropped anchor. Seriously.
Well, chapter one’s gone and no sign of Nicole Kidman. Though right away in chapter two comes Eva Green. Woooh.
Oh wait, spoke too soon. Damn, why’d movie #1 have to be so crappy. We’ve got Nicole Kidman and Eva Green. Except the movie makes would probably do something awful to violate it, so it’s probably just as well.
Wednesday, 10 o’clock. It’s been a lightly-blogged day for various reasons (busy, and: tomorrow is the first of Peter’s company get-togethers (not counting a launch party that was full of Seattle’s finest, at which the only person I talked to happened to be another Californian, but never mind, because that didn’t count, it was PR) and I’ve been given the entrĂ©es (as in: first course), the course that holds the least interest for me. I keep telling myself it’s good practice, but…) and now I’m resuming reading again. So.
I just have a few pages left, but I just finished chapter 14 and I need some damned tea.
Well, that’s book 2 done. And for crying out loud.
