Is Bush Suddenly Looking a Lot More Palatable?
Hmm:
Telegraph Blogs - Holy Smokes - Romney believes Jesus visited America
Mormonism is the only religion whose major claims (solemnly discussed in Mormon academic journals that have all the credibility of Star Trek fanzines) have been officially declared to be untrue by the Smithsonian Institution.
Now, I’m not saying anything about Mormonism. I personally don’t believe it, but I’m a Catholic so that should hardly surprise anyone. I’m just saying, given the way most of Europe’s eyes widen in horror when confronted with Bush’s Christian beliefs, what on earth are they going to do if Romney runs away with this thing, especially considering Damian Thompson (hardly an anti-religious bigot)’s attitude in this blog post?
Quick update:
Of course, if there’s any Christian group self-confident enough to be capable of telling the Europeans to pull their heads out and get a grip, it’s probably the Mormons.

“…telling the Europeans to pull their heads out and get a grip”, in a tone so overwhelmingly optimistic and up-beat that it veritably reaches down your throat and plucks out a can do attitude that you didn’t even know was there.
Come to think of it, Mormonism is a fairly good match for the American spirit. Certainly more so than Episcopalianism.

So, Mr. Thompson basically says that Mormonism isn’t true. Great. So… why in the world does that matter as far as Romney is concerned? Why does he believe in Mormonism? Who cares? Why is Mike Huckabee Baptist? Why is Hillary Clinton Methodist? Who cares?
So, if you’re really worried, then the answer is NO, the Mormons won’t take over the country if Romney is elected.
