The Welsh are being a bit obnoxious at the moment, their rugby team beat England the other week and they’re not good winners. Maybe the English’ll take it out on the Scots this Saturday (I’ve got a ticket!).

Paths to Power’s great fun. Coke Stevenson. Frank Hamer. The fat guy with the ballot box. The odd airtime sales policy at the radio station.

Surely the next one’ll be out before too long?

Golly you colonials! Saturday was March 1st, St David’s Day, the Welsh national day, when all Welsh, including the regimental goat, are supposed to wear something to express their Welshness. The Prince chose a young leek. Others choose daffodils. We English are of course above all that sort of thing. I can see Lyndon tucking into a budgie even as I sit here. He’d eat it with his fingers, possibly with a very hot chili sauce. Anybody here reading the Caro biography of LBJ?

You know for years I thought it was the lack of representations and the taxes and housing lobsterbacks in private domiciles, but no that’s not the real reason we left. The English are just damn too strange for us, that’s it really.

I been reading Indian Summer and Ima lern that Winston Churchill (to his credit .5 American) kept a budgerigar upon his pate when receving folks, said budgerigar was named Toby…. all these years I thought it was a cat. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budgerigar
