Well, we haven’t even left yet and it’s already looking like the weekend’s going to be a shambles (no time to rent a car, up half the night turning the ball of stress over in my stomach and listening to the STUPID tankers honk at each other all night, probably going to miss the wedding anyway (ah, civil ceremonies) and now cause whoever insists on picking us up to miss it as well, and no idea how to get around anymore including to the airport again since we didn’t bother getting a hotel with an airport shuttle since, ah hah, we weren’t supposed to need one).

But I can’t leave without leaving you something to read in my absense. I don’t have time for this, but it looks like it has potential to be entertaining:

The Times - Why Times reports in 1863 were a shade unreliable
In The Times archive: the Gettysburg battles were not quite the Confederate success our correspondent imagined, by David Aaronovitch

Update:

Here’s something else you might enjoy, and the first of which might be a tad more auspicious for the day:

Daily Mail - Love is in the air: Amazing images of clouds from space

Update II:

One more (is the Canadian angle auspicious? Perhaps):

Daily Mail - Viva The Beaver! After 800 years away, the British rodent is back and dam busy

Cuuuute!

Update III:

And let’s not forget to wish Rueful and Mrs Red a happy silver wedding anniversary! …And that they think of us as they tuck into their Yorkshire pies and artisan cheeses…
