August Update!
Last night Peter and I broke open a nice(ish) bottle of wine (Louis Martini: twelve dollars) to celebrate our negative-one month anniversary. So I figure it’s probably about time to let everyone know what’s going on.
The wedding’s in Menlo Park on August 20th. A Wednesday. The next day we’re getting on a plane, the day after that we’re arriving in London, where we’ll be for four nights. On the 26th we’re getting on a train (train! a traaain!!!) to Edinburgh where we’ll be for the next five nights. And on the 31st we’re getting on a plane for London, then another plane for Seattle (fun fact: we arrive here only two hours after taking off there). In London we’re staying at a nice, boring chain hotel on Cromwell Road that some parents of people stayed in while I was in London back in 2001 that I know something about. In Edinburgh we’re enjoying post-Festival rates at the Balmoral.
I’m a bit busy today, so consider this your open thread for restaurant suggestions, itinerary alternatives, or invitations to dine.
(That is besides Red, who’s already got me for the evening of the 27th, I believe.)

It’s getting so close!
Be sure to have Mrs. Red bake you one her famous pies and report back whether any exaggeration is involved.

Lucky Red.

Well I’ll be delighted to welcome Mr and Mrs ninme to our humble little city. Full reports will be available. Have just acquired a digital camera (I’m always late with these things) and that might be relevant.
Mrs Red’s pies have never in history been the subject of exaggeration!

So, who got the Box Brownie?
July 22nd, 2008 at 8:54 am
No-one, I’m still keeping it as a reserve!
What’s all this “zoom” about?

You know a Brownie with 12 Megapixel digital back would be way the hell too cool for school. I couldn’t butcher a Rolleflex, but I could crack open a Brownie a give it a try maybe. Or a SpeedGrfix with a humm…what number of piselx/inch correspondes to what, a 4.5×4.5 inch negative? A heap.

Old, new, borrowed and Blue!!!!!
July 22nd, 2008 at 4:37 pm
Well, the dress is old (a model now several years old that I bought “off the rack”) AND new (taken apart seam-by-seam and refitted pour moi), so I’m still working on the borrowed and blue. Maybe if I sewed a little blue ribbon into it and then returned it later, it would cover all my bases in one?
Does anyone know where Boris lives? Maybe I’ll take a picture of his bicycles.
So Red’s invested in a digital camera, has he? I suppose I’ll have to wait until after the honeymoon to let myself go, then.
Peter has a brownie, actually. Or some variation of it. It’s a box, at any rate. And my dad has one that actually works. With the two lenses. The photographer we’ve hired, fortunately, goes for these newfangled zoomy things, tho, so we can count on more than one photograph for our money.
